DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

About Department:

The Department of Political Science began its journey with the establishment of the College in 2007 as an elective subject. The department commenced with the introduction of B.A major in 2009 and general degree courses with the aim of imparting basic knowledge of the subject and facilitating the students in understanding the past, present and predicts the political phenomenons. The students are encouraged to develop their minds, understand political realities from the local to global arenas. The department studies the students’ capabilities and guide slow learners to improve their abilities through special classes and seeks overall development of the students’ harmoniously.

Thus, with holistic and dynamic approach the department aims to provide the best the students can attain from the teachers although there is inadequate number of teachers.

  • Any student passing H.S. (+2)/equivalent examination with at least 4 subjects including English from any recognized Board/Council shall be eligible for admission through CUET or by admission process conducted by Directorate of Higher Education, Govt. of Tripura to the 1st Semester of the B.A. (Major) programme, subject to the availability of seats.
  • No student will be allowed for admission in the 1st Semester course of studies after a lapse of 05(five) years from the year of passing of the previous qualifying examination.
  • No student will be allowed to pursue more than one regular programmes simultaneously offered by Tripura University.
  • A student will have to apply for University Registration in prescribed form within 30 days from last date of admission.
  • Reservation  policy for SC/ST/PWD (with 40% and above disability) will be governed by the State Govt. reservation policy. i.e., 31% seats reserved for ST, 17% for SC and 3% for PWD.
  • The candidate who has passed in the previous years will not be given priority in merit list and will be treated as per norms.
